Marine Biologist Experience Optional Extra

On  Ocean Freedom we are pleased to announce a new optional extra tour on board . On each tour you will still be able to experience all other activities – this will take 60-90 minutes maximum in total.

The price is $450 for the experience on top of the tour price and can be fine tuned to what you or your family / friends group may want. The price is the same whether one person books up to 4 maximum. (in the one booking)

What does it give you? 

Option 1 – How to do an effective Reef survey – Snorkel experience is all that is required

Gives 60-90 mins  with a Marine Biologist or Master Reef Guide to do:

Briefing on how to do a reef survey / fish and coral id basics / a brief and practice on good snorkelling technique to ensure your control is effective and no fin damage to the coral in the process / snorkel (up to maximum 4) with Marine guide who will assist you in doing a reef survey / post snorkel a brief on how you did and how we input the data to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) site. The guides will  all be trained in surveys provided to the GBRMPA / A certificate to say that you took part in providing a survey on our reef site assisting in providing valuable data to the GBRMPA!

Option 2 – An insight into our Coral Nurture Programme – Certified Divers only (subject to filling out a dive medical on board) 

Briefing and demonstrating the process on the boat / visit the nursery – point to the piece of coral (from choices offered) on the nursery and watch it get out-planted on the reef / Guide will take photo of you near the out plant – name it if you want! / Receive a certificate to say that you were a part of the out planting team on the day! The dive will be 40 minutes with a post brief back on board the boat.
