On Sunday, 21 June 2026, our Cairns community came together at Munro Martin Parklands for Cairns Ecofiesta- Queensland’s popular sustainability festival.
Now in its 11th year, the free annual event celebrates our region’s extraordinary natural environment and shares practical, positive ways individuals, families and businesses can contribute to a more sustainable future.
Set between the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest, the 2026 Ecofiesta featured more than 80 sustainability-focused stalls, environmental and community organisations, green technology displays, workshops, children’s activities, sustainable food and products, and a full day of live entertainment.
It is the 2nd time Ocean Free and Ocean Freedom were a part of this important Cairns community event, sharing our long-standing commitment to responsible reef tourism, education and practical Great Barrier Reef stewardship.
Taryn and Esme attended the stall where we were also celebrating our 30th year of sustainable Eco Reef Tour Operations.
It was indeed a popular locals Cairns Community event made even more eventful to us when about 10 of our “old” staff passed by – a truly lovely moment and opportunistic “Ocean Free & Ocean Freedom old crew reunion” ….. but this time themselves parents and informing their young kids “This is where mummy / daddy used to work for many years” …possibly the next generation of recruits in 10 years time, with 3 of the parental romances having started on Ocean Free & Ocean Freedom – earning a reputation of the love boats!
